HP LASER PRINTER ERROR CODE 81 -
DEFECTIVE NETWORK CARD, OR FORMATTER BOARD.

PRINTERS
1. Unplug the network
cable or the parallel cable from the printer and then turn it off and
the turn it on. If error went away then it was a bad communication
from the network or the computer.
2. If you still have error
when it is disconnected from the network or the computer, you need to
change these parts.
1. Replace the EIO /
network card.
2. Replace the formatter
bard.
HP LASER PRINTERS 1200,
2200, 3100, 3150 FAX, 4100
1. Temporary Printer
error. Disconnect the power cable from the product, wait at lest 30
seconds, reconnect the power cable, and then wait for the product to
initialize.
2. If error persists replace the formatter board.
HP LASER PRINTER 5000,
5100
1. The printer has
detected and error with the network card.
2. Reseat the network
card.
3. Turn printer off and
then turn printer off.
4. Put network card in a
different slot.
5. Replace the network
card.
HP LASER
PRINTER 4200,
4300
1. The EIO accessory card
in slot X has encountered a critical error.
2. Reseat the EIO /
Network card.
3. Replace the EIO /
Network card.
4. Replace the formatter
board.
HP LASER PRINTERS 9000
1 Temporary error has
occurred while testing the printer.
2. Turn the printer off
and turn the printer back on.
3. If error persists
replace the formatter board.
