Light status	Condition of printer	Action
All lights are off.	Power Save mode (or, the printer is off) The printer uses Power Save mode to conserve energy.	Pressing the GO button on the printer control panel, or printing, will awaken the printer from Power Save mode. Check the power cord if the above actions do not generate a response (and the power switch in the printer is powered with 220-240 volts).
Ready light is on.	Ready The printer is ready to print.	No action is necessary; however, if you press and release the GO button on the printer control panel, a self-test page will print.
Ready light blinks.	Processing The printer is receiving or processing data.	Wait for the job to print.
The GO light is on, and the ready light blinks .	Buffered data The printer memory is retaining unprinted data.	Press and release the GO button on the printer control panel to print the remaining data.
The GO light blinks.	Manual feed The printer is in manual feed mode.	Check that you have loaded the correct paper; then, press and release the GO button on the printer control panel to print. The software controls manual feed. If you do not want to be in manual feed mode, change the setting from your printer properties.
Attention light blinks .	Door open, no toner cartridge, or paper jam The printer is in an error state.	Check the following: The printer door is closed. The toner cartridge is correctly installed in the printer. Make sure the Photo Sensitive Drum shutter guides (small tabs located on both sides of the toner cartridge) are not broken. There are no paper jams.
Attention light is on.	Paper out The printer is out of paper.	Load paper into the printer.
The GO light and Attention light are on .	Memory out The printer ran out of memory in the middle of a print job.	The page that is being printed may have been too complex for the memory capacity of the printer. Add memory. Press and release the GO button to print.
All lights blink.	Reset/Printer initialization	The printer memory is being reset, and all previously sent print jobs are being purged. Or, a printer initialization is taking place. All lights blink for .5 of a second or longer, if initializing. No action is necessary. However, you can reset the printer if you press and hold the GO button for 5 seconds.
All lights are on.	Fatal error	Reset the printer. Unplug the printer from its power source, then plug the printer directly into a wall outlet. Contact HP Support.

Listed below are the secondary light patterns

When the printer encounters a fatal error, all LEDs will turn on, or all LEDs will start flashing. During this mode, pressing and holding down the GO button will reveal a secondary pattern on the LEDs. Some LEDs might be on and some might be off, but it will be a non-changing pattern as long as the GO button is held down. This pattern can be used to identify what type of fatal error has occurred.

All lights are on.	ROM/RAM Error. An error was found with the ROM or RAM. The printer believes that the ROM is corrupted, or an error has been found in the RAM.	Power cycle the printer by unplugging the printer and plugging it back in. If this does not clear the error, go to the next step. Unplug the printer, remove any optional memory, and then power the printer back on. If the message clears, replace the memory card. Service the printer.
The GO light and Ready light are on.	Fuser Error	Unplug the printer for 10 minutes or more. Service the printer.
The GO light is on.	Beam Error. There are a number of causes for this error, and some of the causes may disappear.	Power cycle the printer by unplugging the printer and plugging it back in. Service the printer.
The Attention light is on.	Print Engine Error. The formatter and engine are not communicating.	Power cycle the printer by unplugging the printer and plugging it back in. Service the printer.
The Ready light is on.	Printer Laser/Scanner Error	Power cycle the printer by unplugging the printer and plugging it back in. Ensure that condensation caused by moving the printer from a cold to a warm environment has not occurred. Allow the printer to acclimate to the warmer room. Service the printer.
The GO light and Attention light are on.	Firmware Error	Power cycle the printer by unplugging the printer and plugging it in again. Disconnect the parallel I/O cable and try running a printer self-test. Reconnect the parallel cable if the self-test is successful and try host/printer communications again. Service the printer.
The Ready light and Attention light are blinking.	Incompatible DIMM Error (Accessory Error )	Remove DIMM and power cycle. If the error persists, service the printer.
The Attention light is blinking.	Document Scan Engine Error	Service the printer.
The Ready light is blinking.	Document Scan Engine NVRAM Error.	Service the printer.
